Priact offers both tailored courses for specific organizations and public scheduled courses.

Two tailored courses for specific organizations are scheduled for October 2007 in Bangkok and December 2007 in Cambodia:

The next public M&E course will be held in the Spring of 2008.

The last scheduled course, "Monitoring and Evaluation in Practice" was successfully completed in Kyrgyzstan with 13 participants from 6 countries and 7 organizations. Below is an outline of that course.

                    on the Northern shore of Lake Issyk Kul about 200 km from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course is aimed at development professionals, preferably with some knowledge or experience with Monitoring and Evaluation.

  • Review of Basic Design, Monitoring and Evaluation Concepts

  • Improving project design using causal and logical diagrams

  • Using logical frameworks as dynamic project management tools

  • Specifying a minimum set of monitoring and evaluation indicators

  • Development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Plan

  • Data collection procedures and forms

  • Design of baseline and final surveys

  • Data management and processing procedures (Excel and simple Access databases, data entry and verification, data processing, generation of analytical summaries using Excel and Access Pivot Tables and Graphs)

  • Participatory analysis, interpretation and decision-making

  • Setting up a M&E Support Unit and defining its role

  •  Building the M&E capacity of program staff 

This is a hands-on, practical course. Participants will design the training workshop itself as a two-week project, develop an M&E plan for the workshop, set-up an M&E Unit for the course, complete with IT support for data entry through a local network, design and use simple databases for the data they have collected, collect and enter baseline, monitoring and evaluation data, display summaries of their collected data on a local intranet website, analyze, interpret and present their findings and make programmatic adjustments in light of these findings. They will also prepare and practice a short workshop to introduce M&E concepts to other staff in their program. Participants will also have an opportunity to review their own project designs and assess and discuss their current monitoring and evaluation systems.

All participants should bring a laptop with them to be able to complete effectively all these activities.

COURSE FEE: The fee for the course, inclusive of all taxes, is $US 2,550.
